I've had a new background created for me today - it's this moving stars background. I think it's pretty cool. The graphic was done by Brett Harvey, also known as Macro on IRC. His website is here - Brett's Backyard

I suggest that you go there and check out his graphics that you can freely download for your own website, as they're excellent!

I've placed the theme of Star Trek: The Next Generation as a background sound to this Personal Log. It's a midi, and doesn't take too long to download... If it gets too annoying though, I'll remove it. If you wish to download the theme of one of the Star Trek shows then please click on one of the links below to either listen to the sound or to download to your own computer.

Star Trek: The Next Generation
sttng.wav 860 kb
sttng.mid 18 kb

Star Trek: Deep Space 9
ds9theme.wav 920 kb
stds9.mid 3 kb

Star Trek: Voyager
stvoy.wav 870 kb
stvoy.mid 14 kb

(Update 3 Feb 2001: the .wav files no longer exist, but I've kept the mention of them for the purpose of maintaining the content of this journal - just not the files!)

I need to go somewhere cooler for next summer - and every summer after that! If there's anyone in the northern hemisphere that wants to host me this time next year, I'd love to hear from you. *smile* Travelling to cooler climates sounds like a good idea these days... I must be getting old, and the heat's annoying me more than it used to. Or it's hotter than it used to be... maybe it's the greenhouse effect.

It's been confirmed - I can change my phone line over into the new house I'm moving into. Yay! You don't know how inconvenient it is living in a place where you have to ration your time online, because other people want to use the phone. Two years ago I got sick of that, and got my own line installed in my bedroom. It's meant that I can be on the phone or the internet whenever I want, and if the line is engaged ('cause I'm online) or it doesn't get answered, then the incoming call gets diverted to my mobile.

With this new house I'm moving to, they weren't sure if I could transfer my current phone line into this new bedroom, but today it's been confirmed that I can. Yay!

Did I mention that my room is 3 times bigger than the one I'm in now? And that it has its own ensuite bathroom with spa? I'm pretty excited about it. Over the next week leading up to the 13th I'll be gradually moving in my smaller stuff, with the final load being my my bed and my computer and peripherals - the important stuff. *smile*

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back,
always innefectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation)
there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas
and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have
occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in
one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and
material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have
come his way.
